Affogato with Amaretto

Pairs with

Affogato IS the dessert, the coffee break, and the digestif in one. If you want wine alongside: Vin Santo or a PX Sherry. But honestly it needs nothing more — it's complete.

Ingredients

  • 4 scoops good vanilla ice cream
  • 4 double espressos, freshly brewed
  • 4 tbsp amaretto (optional but recommended)
  • Biscotti for dipping (optional)

Method

  1. 11. Place a scoop of vanilla ice cream in each glass or cup.
  2. 22. Pour a splash of amaretto over.
  3. 33. Pour the hot espresso over at the table.
  4. 44. Serve immediately with a small spoon. Eat quickly — the contrast between hot and cold is the entire point.
